US Navy Deploys Laser Cannon

The US Navy has deployed and successfully tested aboard the destroyer "USS Ponce" a Laser Weapon System (LaWS) capable of use against surface and air targets.
The system is run using a game controller like device at a triple LED screen station aboard the destroyer. The US Navy has compared the cost and safety issues of the LaWS versus missles and gunpowder fired cannons, etc. and found the new system much cheaper and safer to operate.
